If not how do you do a clean install/reinstall without the disc (OTHER than Dell restore)
can I use ANOTHER Vista disc and just enter the new system's activation code for it?

It's a full version of Vista Ultimate
-
Not true. Inspirons come with a Vista disc.
-
When I bought my Inspiron 6400 (e1505), it came with an OEM version of Vista Home Premium so I assume the new Dell's also include an OEM DVD. This was actually one of the major reasons why I decided to get the Dell.

My M1330 - which hasn't arrived yet - states the following on the invoice:
-Genuine Windows Vista Ultimate32 (English)
-Media DVD kit for Genuine Windows Vista(TM) Ultimate 32bit OS (English)
So I assume that will come with a disk. -
Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
Sometimes they let you choose whether or not to include a disk... though I can't see why anyone in the right mind would choose not to...
-
They give you a reinstallation DVD disk for the version of Vista that you purchased... trust me, I have received my new 1520, and have reinstalled Vista.
-
But, if I purchase Vista Ultimate (32bit): how I can upgrade to 64bit?
Microsoft says that "64-bit media is included in the box with Windows Vista Ultimate."; but Dell only send me and 32bit media? ;( -
For awhile regular models of Dell systems did not come with Disks at all; this was the case of the 6400 I ordered last year that I had some prob with.
They stated they did not include disks anymore because of the Disk Restore feature they have. I believe that normal Dells have them again now.
As for XPS lines they come with everything. They have a full disk set or not only recovery disks, but also the Vista disk itself as well as other disks such as Sounblaster, Works, system disk, Roxio, Sonic as well as media direct. Further, if you need a diskm they send it immediately.
Further, with XPS you get XPS bags and cd cases and a full manual that tells you how to do any maintenance on your system that might come up includiing keyboard replacement and so on. -

The 1520's do come with the Vista reinstalation disk.
I know ebcause my DEAD 1520 is sitting here in the box along with the vista home premium 32bit disk. -
im not seeing a mention of "media" anywhere on my invoice.
-
I just got my 1520 today and I only got a drivers and utilities, webcam, roxio and dell mediadirect disks. Is it on one of them?
-
And what about Vostro? Like Inspiron o like Latitude...?
