When I look closely at my WSXGA 1680 x 1050 screen, i notice that there a faint horizontal lines. Its like scan lines and its as though every second line is 5% lighter.

Apparently this was a issue with the new Apple Powerbooks as well.

I've attached a picture that will show if you have the lines:

Open the file to normal size (100%). If you don't have the lines, both sides of the picture will appear the same shade, if you do have the lines one side will appear darker than the other. The side that is darker changes depending on where (vertically) the picture is being displayed.

I have the samsung wsxga screen, and im trying to get a replacement that doesn't have the lines. This is the second samsung screen and both have the lines, so I'm thinking that maybe the LG screens dont have it...

Could anyone please check and see if you have the problem and post your results!!!

Note the image is zipped as unzipped size is > 200kb

well it looks like you have a problem, get on dell chat, and show the rep your pic, im guessing they will eventually authorize a lcd replacement depending on your service agreement. Should be warranty for sure so no worries.

geo, interesting test. I've heard from others who say they have noticable the exact same symptom. Call dell and get it replaced. Afaik it is an actual "problem" and a new screen will fix it (much unlike light leakage wich many mistaken as a correctable problem).

yea, have had one replacement already... just trying to find out basically who doesn't have the problem and what type of screen they have so i can request that brand.

So far i've had two samsungs (this is a notebook screen) so I wonder if an LG would be better

I've sent the dell guy a few photos already :)
