So do you like your Inspiron e1505, those who have them?
-
its good for the price.
The build quality is not as good as the latitude and the XPS line, and that's partly a reason for its cheaper price.
all else, it's a nice notebook. -
For everything I got.... and the E1505 features like media direct... it was a great deal at a little over 900 bucks.
-
im very happy with mine
-
I love mine and think it is one of the best investments I made. Of course the build quality could have been a little better I think for the price I paid it was a good buy
-
i love it.....love the high res screen for a good price too.
-
its good for what it is, but personally i shoulda bought a macbook, im kinda tired of the whole windows experience. Linux is pretty useless for me as I need Flash, Photoshop, and Illustrator, and dont even suggest to me Gimp, that program was horrible when i tried it, it kept crashing, and linux has poor support for wacom tablets (im goin off on a rant, i should stop now lol)
-
I put all the best components in mine...
Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHZ
ATI x1400
WSXGA+ Screen (1680 x 1050) Truelife
Dell Draft N Wireless
Couldn't be happier with a portable... -
T7200 isn't the best lmao.
but plenty good. -
-
I AM IN LOVE WITH MY COMPUTER...mostly because i bought her myself, no one else i know almost has one (so i can show off lol), and its my first computer that is MY OWN!
if something happened to my baby i would cry like heck
i have a T5500, X1400, 1GB RAM from Dell cuz i was too lazy to buy upgrades later, so mind as well have Dell put it in for me, XP MCE, bluetooth, intel 3945 wireless, 80GB HDD @5400rpm, DVD duel layer burner...the cheap...all the lowest end parts offered exept for the GPU, which i wish was a X1600 or X1900 (X1650 and X1950 now i guess...but then if you want to game, then you need a faster CPU then too...)
so i guess waht im trying to say is that im happy with the parts that i have, 'cuz its all that i need...(exept for gaming...) and i got it for a great price, i think by the end it only cost me about 900USD -
Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
I think its an excellent mainstream general purpose machine, its not a head turner, but it really isnt meant to be. It has a decent range of options, adeqete build quality, and does its job and does it well.
-
I really liked mine - WSXGA+, x1400, 1-Gb RAM - in fact, I liked it so much that I sold it this past week. But, I'm going to take that money along with some overtime and wait till Santa Rosa comes out - and buy whatever Dell replaces the e1505 with. My daughter has been using my first system on that platform, a 6000D, with zero problems for a year and a half. I bought the e1505 last year in May and gamed with it (OK - Ghost Recon and SWAT4 - not cutting edge stuff) for six months in Iraq & then got $650 out of it this week. I hope and assume the x2300/x2400 (??) on the Santa Rosa e-something (I've seen e1515) will be a faster card. A little bit on the bulky side but I think the 6000D/e1505 is a winning series.
-
Got mine a few days back and am very happy with it.
-
still waiting for mine to ship today
well I ordered the 6400, but i'm told its the same as 1505.
-
I just ordered mine. Should arrive March 19th.
-
I like mine, but I over paid for it(I was a n00b when I bought it) and I think its all to popular now.. To many people have them I want something that no one else has.. Oh well, it does what I need it to.
-
I like mine, bought it last summer before core 2 duo but i'm still happy with it. Fits my needs perfectly.
-
For 1200$CND I couldn't get any better, the cover lid scratches pretty easily but with a QuickSnap cover it should fix it. I'm pretty happy with it, I love the clear screen. I'm a college student and the Core 2 Duo with ATI x1400 256mb, 1gig DDR2 ram it does what I want without any troubles. Plus the Dell wireless card is pretty good.
-
I'm pretty happy with the laptop. For the price, nothing else came close to it when I bought mine.
-
I love my 6400. It's perfectly quiet and much more efficient then my old desktop (P4).
-
I got this notebook because of the components to price ratio. C2D T7400 @ 2.16GHz, 1GB RAM, ATI X1400, 120GB HDD for $975 CDN bt. I couldn't really go wrong and I needed an affordable notebook with a decent battery life.
-
For under USD900, with gig of ram and dedicated video it was a great deal. Have had it for almost a year - didn't regret a purchase for a second!
-
I love my 6400. I has completely replaced my desktop. T7400 2.16 GHz Core 2 Duo, x1400, 2 GB DDR2 RAM, 60 GB HDD with an 80 GB External HDD
Very nice!! -
I guess I do. The only choice I had is Dell or HP. DV6000t looks
cool and price is really good, but after reading all I could get about trouble with this model is no way I am spending my money on it. So E1505 for under 1100 usd suits my needs perfectly. Love the wireless.

God, I couldn't be happier!
$1200 bucks got me(main items people care about): 2.0Ghz T7200, 2Gigs 667Mhz Ram, X1400 Video, 120Gig HD, and a DVD-burner. I opted for the normal non-glossy screen because it bugs me.
I use this laptop for both work and home use. I travel across the eastern united states doing IT work all the time and hope this thing really helps me out. I was using an old Pentium M 256mb Ram company system.
So far this thing has just been a dream to use. It has for sure replaced the 5 year old Athlon XP desktop system I built myself all those years ago. This laptop even does some gaming fairly decently. Nothing hardcore though, obviously.
All-in-all, I love this thing like a son....pretty sad. -
My desktop is an XPS 450 pentium 3 that I bought in 1999.I bought the 6400 as my first laptop, so you can Imagine how much I like it. I feel like I went from a skateboard to a Ferrari.
-
i absolutely adore my 6400
-
-
-
I didn't even know that dell had the c2d 2.14 ghz laptops out yet on their I6400. yeah its a great price, I paid about $300 more for T5600 but its new w/ 2gb ram. Did you get yours with warranty?
-
Yeah mine has a warranty until October 20th, 2009. I was quite upset I could only get a machine with 1GB of RAM but considering my birthday is only a few days away I plan on upgrading for cheaper. And I really don't know how I got a 2.16GHz C2D but thats what my computer is telling me along with all the notebook software I have.
-
I love it. - bought it sometime in November... $1050 I believe, plus tax.
-
HCanciano, how did you get this deal on it? diid you buy it from dell with a coupon?
-
I love it. its not too big to carry around but big enough to enjoy a good movie. When i had windows XP i contently played games on it with my 7200 RPM HD and X1400. now ... i have Vista Business. Looks grate, runs well, but does shorten my battery (maybe b/c i want the graphics to be at least in balanced mode for vista to look super nice). But after vista i didn't try any new games ... i should and see how it works but people say the ATI drives are good. so i am not worried about now being able to game in the future.
-
I absolutly love it! its fast, screen is awesome, yes there is some light leakage but nothing distracting, but no dead pixels!!! which i was really woried about because i always had bad luck with that in the past.. plus its able to play tiger woods 07, warcraft 3 and world of warcraft! the only games i really care about. so overall im pretty happy
-
I've had my laptop for a decent amount of time now, enough to really test things out, and I'm still just completely in love with the thing. It multi-tasks like crazy. I can load photoshop almost instantly, where as it would to take 30-45 seconds on my older system. I usually work with 7-10 programs open at all times: photoshop, foxpro, a dozen firefox pages, remote connection software, thunderbird, and who knows what else from time to time. Keep in mind this is all in vista with visuals turned all the way up.
On the down side I've noticed the laptop does get pretty warm.....more so the harddrive then the cpu/gpu. It just has the 5400 120gig in it. Vista still has its quirks but that's to be expected really. I'm actually pleasantly surprised with how well vista runs and it actually has helped me work a little faster. Go figure....
I was, however, very happy that the media buttons on the front work with itunes all the time, and all the media software I use for that matter. I had a few logitech and microsoft keyboards that only worked with itunes when it was open and on top (very annoying).
The normal non-glossy screen is bright enough to see on a sunny day but it's nothing special. No dead pixels to speak of here. The resolution is a little small. I really wish I could have purchased the screen with a higher resolution but non-glossy. Dell doesn't offer this unfortunately.
I stupidly forgot to add the bluetooth to it. Luckily a fast google search showed dell sells the part and it just pops right in the small pop-out plastic piece that is inside the battery compartment, no tools required! Here is the

Another annoying fact is the left side piece vibrates when the volume is more than half way up. I can just stop it by putting my hand on it though.
I also was in need of some protection and means to carry my laptop. I went ahead and purchased a 15.4" CaseLogic bag for my dell laptop. I did a lot of research and even took my laptop to CompUSA to test fit it in all their bags. The CaseLogic won in fit, protection, style, and functionality. It holds my laptop very securely and also has room for TONS of other material objects like CD's, pens, camera, handheld computer, passports, sunglasses, notepad, power supply holders(2), and a few other random pockets I'll probably never put to use.

All-in-all I'm extremely happy with this machine and would definitely recommend it to any and all who are looking for a nice budget laptop. -
I Ordered mine on friday (23 March) and im getting antsy.
-
Haha, just a happy owner that's all!
Also, mine said 30-some-odd days to process and ship...it was here the next week. I believe this is just one of their marketing tactics to push the "ready to ship" - more expensive units. -

Just got it today but the fan is making LOUD ticking sound. Called dell and tried different hardware checks, they think its a faulty hard drive. They are sending me a new HD with all the software installed. They said i just need to swap them out. Customer service is even going to knock off $168.00 off the price and credit my credit card. We shall see how it turns out. Other than that, Very nice laptop.
Very dissatisfied with Dell !!, One week after getting my E1505 I still have not recieved my new HD though they did credit my CC $168.00 off the price of the laptop but my NEW laptop is sitting collecting dust. Dell assured me i would have the HD by last friday and it never showed. Called Dell they stated Tuesday 4/10/07 and still no drive. Called them today and told them i wanted to return the laptop for a refund and they state the HD has shipped out over night even though their web site states it is still in production and has not shipped. If it is not here by today 4/11/07 I am returning it no matter what they offer or say. A very terrible experiance with Dell so far. -
Im loving it, but i havent done much on it yet.
I have had my E1505 for almost 3 weeks now. I had one dead pixel on the bottom right of the screen, its barely noticable (i really have to point it out for anyone to see it). There has been a few problems, but nothing that the dell website upgrades and patches hasent fixed. Gaming on it is great, i have only ran WC:TFT and WoW on it though. 9 cell battery is awesome havent ran it down yet, its only really plugged in the night, during the day its on but the sleep saves alot of power when im not using it. Back to the screen, its sharp, i went with the Ultrasharp WXGA+ w/truelife. The Dell network card hasent let me down yet, range isnt really a problem, its finding unsecure networks to connect to when your away from home thats a booger, but at work and school its fine. In all i havent ran it to its max yet, its too new for that. But ill post again with any breakthroughs.
Heres my specs again:

-80GB 5400rpm
-85 WHr 9-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery

i had a inspiron 6400, with x1300 mobile video... it was nice... i sold it because i had a bill to pay...now bought another notebook, but went with a hp dv6000t...for some reason dell shut off credit on me, but hp gave me credit...figure that out. but the inspiron e1505 is a nice notebook,, and somewhat cheap;...the deals at dell are not like they use to be, though i have seen a few good deals on the outlet site.

I love my new 6400/e1505... it performs great, and i think it looks quite nice too
