Some amount of graininess can make a glossy display look like a matte display. Older people or people with eye problems prefer such displays. What do you think?

One of my theories about the source of the grain is that it's an intentional anti-glare coating under the gloss coating. However, it does not serve the purpose. What you get is the worst of both worlds, you still get the reflectiveness of the glare coating, but now it's refractive, too. Which is what many people refer to as sparkle rather than grain.

I think it was thought up by some Dell executive's child that was aspiring to be an engineer. You know, like the director's girlfriend that can't act staring in a B movie.

Who in their right mind would answer a 'yes' to a grainy screen! Graininess is in the eyes of the beholder. Me thinks you just offended the geriatric set. People with bad eyes don't usually go for bad screens! LOL
