    Hi,

I've been reading a lot on the DELL forums regarding the problems of the D620 screen (Grainy, not v bright, etc, etc). Apparently Dell fixed the problem and put in new screens after Feb of this year.

I was wondering if anyone could verify that the new screens are actually any good. If not I may have to cancel my order - which would really suck cause I got a good deal for a good solid notebook.

    TIA

    J

They are using the same screens for the WXGA (1280X) laptops. Don;t know about the higher resolution one's (1440X).
So if you're going for the small resolution one you might have to think twice.

Ok thanks - I have ordered the WXGA+ 1440 screen so hopefully it'll be ok.

Just don't want the thing to turn up, have a bad screen and then have to pay a 7% restocking fee.

Just got my laptop this week and I must say I am very impressed. I got the 1440 resolution and the screen is absolutely fantastic. The keyboard is excellent and everything is working as I'd expect. Definately recommend!

Now...to figure out how to dual-boot vista with linux....

Xspringe, I got the 620 last week, but the ATG version - awesome screen, completely usable outdoors in the sun (it has a much brighter screen than the regular 620). You pay for the brighter screen, but totally worth it to me (I could care less about the 'ruggedized' features of the ATG). This screen is the 1280x800 resolution, very easy on the eyes (as I get older those higher resolution screens get less and less appealing).

Less than 2.5k by a few hundred if you choose the non-ruggedized 7200rpm HD over the ruggedized 4200rpm HD. No brainer for me to get the cheaper but much faster HD. And priceless for the ability to work outside on my deck. (I may be the only person on this forum that uses a laptop for work, sounds like most are doing gaming)

A friend got his in mid-Feb (1440 type) and has nothing but praise for the screen. His previous 9300 GPU was toasted so he wanted to get something lighter this time around.
