Well I'm in my Freshman year college and I just wanted some opinions. Should I get an XPS M170 now or wait until a year or so for Vista? I've never owned a laptop, but I already have a high powered desktop and I needed something portable, because I'm currently at community college and when I transfer to a university I will need one. Oh and my brother owns the desktop so I will eventually need my own and the reason I want the XPS is because I like Dell's customer service and I play a lot of Counter Strike Source. Opinions please! Thank you!

The XPS will be perfectly capable of running Vista. It won't be a top gaming machine in four years. Look at the laptops sold in 2001. None of those would play any of todays games.

But, it still will be pretty good/okay for about 3-4 years?

I know quite a few people with ThinkPad T22s that run quite well.

You can use the Dell Inspiron coupon for the XPS systems.
    Find the 30% off coupon.

Just call dell to order once you have the configuration you want. The Dell rep can get the system to overide and apply the coupon for you.
You will be able to get a beast of a system for around $2600 including freight and tax
