Do you think i should upgrade my Dell Inspiron 1520 or Buy a new laptop?

    My current specs:

    1.5ghz core 2 duo
    2gb ram
    120gb
    256mb nividia 8600gt

I am thinking of upgrading to 320gb and 4gb ram. Is it worth the upgrade or its too old?

If you think i should buy a new laptop, can you please name some

    Thanks.

Well it has a core 2 duo processor althought he ghz aren't too much to brag about. It really depends on what u plan are plannin to do with the laptop. i for one think that u should just mabe upgrade the hard drive if u need the space. because u do have a really nice graphics card to help out that 2 gb of ram. Plus honestly i haven't seen or used a whole lotta really good laptops on the market lately. they all have problems (unless u wanna lay down a pretty penny for a MBP, best one and quietest that ive used). but it just depends on what u really need the upgrade for.

It is far from being too old to upgrade. I think the upgrade could be worth while, but only if you use a 64 bit os for the 4gb otherwise stick with 3gb. Your processor is upgradeable to the newest Intel processors available too.

I believe you can, since they offer service to upgrade the 8700m to 8800m GTX for the 1730 owners, I don't see why they won't help upgrading a screen which is probably much easier to upgrade to begin with.

However you will be paying for the part (Monitor) and last time I check, a monitor is not cheap. A "Refurbished": 15-inch WXGA+ LCD Monitor" listed on Dell part's and upgrade page will set you back $207 dollar and that does not includes the shipping you pay to have it send back to Dell.

If you are interested here the URL to the Dell's 1520 Parts & Upgrade Page:

Ok, i think i will do it myself.

But i have no idea which monitors are good and whats the difference in them.

For example if i get 15-inch WXGA+ LCD Monitor, what difference will it make to my screen? Like how will it improve it?

And also i have the default screen that comes with DELL 1520

    Thanks.

The 1440x900 screen will have about 1/4 more screen area, but you will probably notice the smaller characters.
