Does anyone know of some good docks that are compatible with the Vostro 1400. I want a reliable one for college so I won't constantly have to disconnect and connect all the wires to my laptop. Also, do they sell any of the Vostro docks from dell.com because I have a $100 coupon I want to use.

This is exactly something i've been looking for. A dock to connect my vostro to in order to easily move it back and forth without disconnecting wires, that includes 5.1 sound output for my z5500's. Any ideas?

If only the vostro came with a docking port... seems it limits the options

    Targus makes a universal one:

Basically, plug everything into the docking station, connect the station to the laptop with one usb cable.

No idea how well it works though, so if anyone tries this/has tried this please let us know.

The inspirons dont have the docks that "click in". You have to buy a universal dock that uses a usb port

For the Targus replicator, you just need to install the driver for that device first and then after that you will know that its loaded properly because it will be seen by the system. So after that just connect your external devices to the port assigned for it.
