I recently ordered a M1530, and am trying to figure out my docking station options.

Ideally, it would be drop and go, like the latitude series, but I realize that isn't in the cards.

So, I'd like a solution that allows me to hook up a monitor, keyboard, mouse and firewire external hard drive to my M1530.

Is this possible? I've heard negative things about the Belkin ( http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...tail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=A1163849), the Targus ( http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...tail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=A0766486), the Kensington ( http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...tail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=A0628371).

    Any thoughts?

Nope, you need a business laptop for those features.

I think your are being quite a jackass, some people move their laptop nonstop and would like just one cable to plug in and not 5, and I dont think he ever said what you quoted in any fashion.

He discredits 3 aftermarket ones, and appearntly doesnt like the Dell one. So really I think thats being super picky. How hard is it to just plug in some USB cords?

I dont know personally but some people could have to disconnect them a couple times a day and one cable is much easier, and the way I read it is that the belkin is wat is bad and he was just bringing up the other 2.

how would a usb hub be helpful if he wants to hook up like a monitor? lol. however, getting a usb hub and just connecting a keyboard and mouse to that is pretty easy, along with an external harddrive.. why do you need firewire? the monitor you just have to use a VGA cord... or HDMI

It doesn't. But if the docking stations aren't what he is looking for a hub would help. That way you just hook up the hub and monitor.
