Both my audio jacks are dodgy - whenever I plug a cable into one of them, I have to put something under it to prop the cable up, otherwise I get a horrible buzz out of my speakers and no sound.
Is this an any way common problem with the machine? The first one went ages ago, but I just started using the second one and paid it no attention. It's been dropped since, but I don't think it was dropped before the first one died.
When it DID fall, it was a bad fall - a usb cable that was attached ripped one of the usb jacks on the other side out, the screen bezel separates a little when opened past 90 degrees etc.
I'm a little afraid of opening it just in case there's loose bits held on by prayers in there that will go all over the place if I do - but if there's a chance of me fixing the audio I will.
Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else, and has been fixed really

Not sure about your other problems, but assuming you have a working USB jack, I'd suggest one of these. It seems to bypass your sound card and speakers, and allow you to plug headphones or speakers into it.

Yeah, I think I'll do that rather than open my laptop, god knows how much stuff is ready to fall apart in there
