I ran into the top of my budget, dell finance credit, and got Windows XP Home vs. Pro, so I could get the higher processor.

I've been reading that only Windows XP Pro supports SMP. Does that mean the Home edition will not support both cores?

If I have to get Windows XP Pro somewhere else (OEM), will it cause problems if I reinstall it to the notebook?

    This is what I ordered:

    Inspiron E1705 - Intel(r) CoreTM Duo Proc T2500 (2GHz/667MHz/2 X 1MB L2 Cache), Genuine Windows(r) XP Home Edition
17 inch Wide Screen XGA+ Display
    256MB NVIDIA(r) GeForceTM Go 7900 GS
    60GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive
Integrated 10/100 Network Card and Modem
    24X CD Burner/DVD Combo Drive
Integrated Sound Blaster(r) AudigyTM HD Software Edition
    Dell Wireless 1390 802.11g Mini Card (54Mbps)

    Thank you.

Trippy. I wonder why they say you need Win XP Pro for SMP. I guess that doesn't include dual core CPUs? :)
