I see that a lot of people are stressing over which brand of LCDs, batteries and keyboards, etc. that Inspirons and Vostros use.

Do Latitudes (D630) have this problem? That there's several brands of screens etc.?

If so, can someone list which ones are good/bad?

None from what I can tell. I've been reading much about the D630 since I got it in July and I haven't encountered any brand-related issues. I understand the other D630 owners on this board have had similar success with their units.

I saw your configuration on an earlier thread. Good price for decent components.

    Regards,
    Paolo

I have an SEC screen on a D620, the version immediately prior to the D630. The screen is quite good -- no graininess, decent color saturation, etc. However, there is some very significant light bleeding.

No problems as encountered by me.

They're not really problems, but the one annoyance is the lack of driver support for the Quadro NVS 135m. I hope they are making/revising them, as this card should be able to run slightly better....(crossing fingers).

Other than that, it is such a fast and painless system to own.

    Best,
    Ilham

I second what Paolo says--I got my D630 at the end of July--after much research on this forum and other places. I've seen a lot more folks with positive experiences than negative ones.

For what it's worth, the screen on mine is very crisp and clear. Vertical viewing angle isn't real great, but tilting the screen properly solves that.

I don't think you'll be disappointed if you decide to purchase the D630.

Good one. A very accurate way of describing ownership of the D630.

It's so fuss free, it's almost boring.
