Hey,
I was looking at bestbuy's website - i noticed they had dvi to hdmi cables. Does anyone know if the quality is good? I'm interested in knowing if i could hook up a dell m1730 to my tv through the dvi to hdmi cable and how the quality would be. - If anyone knows, thanks in advance.

It will be whatever the maximum resolution is that your TV can handle.

The quality should look amazing, especially if you output 1920x1200 from your notebook (depending on your TV's native resolution). The quality will be much better on a TV that can produce 1080p rather than one with a native resolution of 720p.

So it does indeed work though correct? The m1730 can output audio + video from the dvi to hdmi?
It would be dvi on the m1730 to my tv's hdmi port.
If so... why do people hype so much about hdmi outputs on notebooks when they can just get a dvi to hdmi cable? -
DVI is video only. HDMI is DVI with audio.

Oh ok - That clears things up for me. Thanks alot lithius.
I'm still trying to determine if i want the m1730 with dual 8800 gtx's or the m15x with single 8800 gtx ;d. -
So DVI to HDMI will produce pretty much the same picture quality as hdmi to hdmi?
-
HDMI = DVI + Audio. Literally.
-
M1730 supports dual dvi. Not sure if this matters on what OP is asking though.

Thanks Lithus.
Does DVI to HDMI on the m1730 Produce good quality?
