I'm thinking of buying the XPS m1210 from Dell Canada and I was wondering if anyone knew whether it would come with the Windows Vista reinstall CD so I can do a clean install. Also, does it come with CDs for applications like CD burning, etc?

I heard that there's only a reinstall partition on new Dells. What happens if I have a new hard drive or the reinstall partition gets corrupted? I've been searching these forums and some posts indicate that there is a reinstall CD but I'm not sure if Dell US is different from Dell Canada. Can anyone who's bought from Dell Canada recently comment on this? Thanks.

The laptop I received in January came with the XP CD. I will be getting another laptop delivered this coming week which has Vista on it. Will let you know if the Vista CD is included. If it's not included, you can call and ask for one, stating that your OS or drive has corrupted and that you need to reinstall. I've heard of many instances like this where they do ship you the CD(s) with little to no hesitation.

I just got my Inspiron 6400 yesterday which I bought from dell.ca. Yes it came with a Vista reinstall disk as well as a couple of other disks including Microsoft Works (which I have no use for). I was not expecting the disk as I thought the Dells now just come with restore partitions.

I have my 6400 for about a year now. I wanted to format it and I didn't have the re-install CD XP pro. I called them and requested it. I received it the next day :p

Thanks everyone, I'm guessing that it should come with one then.

Sure, and what if your hard drive fails? Or you decide to try out a few Linux distros and then, after a month, decide to back to Windows? Or...
