    Hello,

I am new to this forum. I am planning to buy a Dell inspiron mini. But I wanted a firewire port too :( I usually conduct sessions for my students. Tape record them and transfer it into my laptop for their reference later. I was using dell initially. But i decided to shift to the smaller version as it was easier to carry around.

But the issue was no firewire port. I was searching the net for a solution and came across Express card. but was left wondering if dell inspiron mini supports express card reader. :(

Someone please guide me. is there a way around this?

    Hi,

if that laptop is equipped with an Express Card slot, this would have been mentioned in the specs.

Netbooks usually do not have that kind of expansion possibilities.

Perhaps the Vostro 3300 series suits your needs better ;)

Only netbook I found that had an expresscard port as a Lenovo S10. If you want a small notebook with a firewire port, consider a Dell E4200, HP 2530P or 2510P+ mods.

Dell Outlet have 25% off their 13" E4310. Can get an i5-540M for $535 which is an incredibly good bargain.
