I highly doubt it since the payment was already authorized, and your order was placed.

If it was a couple of days ago, im not sure.

Best thing to do would call them, and ask.

Yes, Dell does let you do this... but it works exactly the same as "modifying" an order. Dell doesn't really change anything, instead they just cancel your existing order and place a new one for you, so you have to wait for it to go through the whole process again.

yeah, that would be my guess. But then again, that option is the same as cancelling the order, and reordering it with Master Card. He might not want to cancel though.

True, but not exactly the same. If the prices/promotions have changed since he originally placed his order, the above method would ensure that he gets the same specs at the same price. For example, it looks like they just replaced the T2300E processor with the T2050, which looks like a slightly inferior processor. If he ordered with the T2300E, it he would now only have the option of the T2050 if he cancels the order & replaces a new one himself. If the current price/processor is better, then it would of course make sense for him to cancel & place a new order himself.

OP, I personally feel the additional 5% is worth the 2-3 day delay. Depending on how much you spent, it would amount to approximately ~$50. Also, even if Dell lets you change the method of payment without cancelling the order, the promotion period does not start until July 1st, so you might not get the 5%, unless the transaction date shows July 1st or later.

    Good luck.

    It is now july 1.
I dont care about the 2-3 day extra wait, but my order on M90 has a 30% off one time use coupon + 12% epp discount, I dont want to mess with that.
The 5% comes out to be at least 80$

its simple, just do the math and whatever comes out cheaper overall for the system you want is the method you use.

i would work the new order over the phone first, and if you can push the sales rep a little (talk nice and have all your coupons handy) then place the order at the price you want. after that then kill the original order.

So call Dell up and let them know you want to change the method of payment. Let them know the situation with the coupon, and they should replace the order at the exact same price which you were originally charged, changing only the payment method.
