I ordered a blue 1520, and I was wondering if anyone knew about dell building computers on weekends. Has anyone had a computer go into the boxing stage over the weekend? (mine is supposed to ship monday)
-
I asked my Case Manager if they do manufacture computers on the weekends. He said that they will start doing that next weekend. I think he may have thought I was talking about CSR hours and factory hours. Who knows.
-
Yeah the malaysians and chinese are hard workers. They work around the clock.
-
-
Nope only the truth.
-
A Dell rep. told me that Dell Factory in Europe works weekends to solve current delay problems.
-
employees get 10 hr shifts monday-thursday (40 hours) and others get 12 hr shifts friday-sunday (36 hours) but are given pay for 40 hours. so yes, they do.

pragun,
not that i don't believe you, but where did you get your info from? -
88GMCTruck started a thread with a link to an article.
do you believe me now?not that you didn't believe me before
-
Of course I believe you now.
I guess I will start the order inquiry addiction up tomorrow. I heard that they were going to get some new screens in today. -
okay cool
. i've had that addiction for almost 4 weeks now. im not as worried about the screens as i am about the midnight blue lid. for the 3rd or 4th time i was told that it was the lids causing the hold up (all except black) as of a few minutes ago according to a rep.
-
but i ordered jet black and my est. ship date is nastay. anyways, thanks for the info about the work hours, pragun -
oh wow that's horrible xted. i think the rep was talking to me about 1520s. she said the lid was the only thing holding back my order. other people might have other parts holding their orders back. the number you can call to ask about this kind of stuff is (i THINK) 1-877-868-3355 which is the order notification department? tell me if it's wrong i'll go through my phone history again
. and you're welcome!
-
haha they said the mail box is full, i can either "press 1 to disconnect or press 2 to dial another number."
-
Most probably they work on weekends.
I bet, computers are manufactured 24/7.
There are morning, afternoon, evening and graveyard shifts. -
Must be hard to work if they do not have any screens. I imagine it is one big coffee break!
-
They work 7 days a week 24-7
-
How can they work when there is nothing to work with? LOL!
-
Notebooks aren't the only thing they build. You don't need screens for desktops. And most of the notebook screens are in stock, only a few types are missing.

Dell only flys the units back to the states Mon-Sat.
Does Dell manufacture computers on weekends?
