I ordered a 1420 and was wondering if these Motorola headphones would work. The key is if Dells bluetooth Supports Bluetooth Advanced Audio Distribution (A2DP), Audio Video Remote Control (AVRCP), Hands-free (HFP), and Headset profiles¹... Here is the link to these nifty headsets: http://www.motorola.com/motoinfo/product/details.jsp?globalObjectId=177

I also ordered Dells bluetooth mouse.. so I am wondering as well if I can use both these devices at the same time?

buy it, if it works, use it...if it doesnt, send it back.

says audio, should "somewhat" work :)

doesn't say that it supports a2dp tho... and a2dp is not the same as regular audio over bluetooth. EG, my phone supports bluetooth headphones but only in monophonic mode, no a2dp ;)

All it would take would be a2dp drivers. Any notebook or computer with bluetooth internal or otherwise supports a2dp.

Xp and Vista have far better driver support than your phone.

Do you think they'd offer for sale a set of Bluetooth stereo headphones with microphone on the same page as the Bluetooth card if the thing didn't support those headphones? That would be kind of like fraud I would think.

I can see the chat now...

User: These stereo headphones don't work in stereo.
Dell: Well that's because our Bluetooth card doesn't support the correct audio protocol.
User: But I bought these headphones from Dell. On the same page as the Dell bluetooth card.
Dell: Well we never intended for that!

Their older 355 BT 2.0 EDR module supports A2DP. So I'm guessing the new one too.

For those interested in getting A2DP service out of the Dell wireless 355 blutooth module on XP or Vista:

Try the v. 5.1.0.4500 Widcom driver for the ASUS WL-BTD201M Bluetooth dongle. It apparently uses the same Broadcom chip as the 355. The download is large but has been written for most platforms. I couldn't get this driver from Dell or Broadcom (new owner of Widcom).

I now get crisp clear stereo on my Sony DR-BT50 headset.
