Hey guys, I was just reading about MediaDirect, and it sounds pretty cool.
Question: Does MediaDirect extend battery life, since Windows is not actually booted? Or does it still burn the same amount juice, regardless of MediaDirect?
Oh, if it depends on what we're doing, let's say we're using MediaDirect to watch a DVD. Will the battery life last longer than if we fully booted the laptop?

Hmmm that's a good question. I think you would get a somewhat longer battery life using MediaDirect since you won't have unnecessary processes running in the background doing stuff which use the CPU, but it would probably be a negligible difference; the big one would be the fact that when you're in Mediadirect, you won't have wi-fi, but that's really all I think.

Does MediaDirect support Speed Step and other power saving features available in Windows? If not, than it might be more efficient to go ahead and boot into Windows. Especially since Vista allows so many customizable power saving features.

I'd say only slightly....... only slightly... -
MediaDirect is a cutdown version of Windows XP running a cyberlink Media Center application in full screen mode; therefore it should support all the power saving features of Windows and cant be lot efficient in power consumption compared to regular Windows. But since it runs only the critical processes with all the unnecessary hardware powered down it should provide slightly better battery life.

Gotcha. Thanks guys!
