I'm currently using this setup to connect my laptop to my HDTV, http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/PopupProductDetail.aspx?cs=19&l=en&c=us&sku=310-8274
Does it produce a better quality video on my HDTV than this VGA cable I may purchase? http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...id=10201&cs_id=1020106&p_id=83&seq=1&format=2
Which is best?

The VGA will be a great improvement from composite. VGA is similar to component video.

So will the VGA output a 1080p picture?
The adapter from Dell which I am using only produces a 1080i. -
Depends. The actual specs for VGA are better then component. The issue lies with your TV. Most manufacturers cheap out on VGA inputs on consumer sets. Some max out at 1024x768, even though the cable is capable of much higher resolutions, and the TV itself can display 720p/1080p.
You're shopping at the right place. You might as well try both cables out, since it'll only cost you an extra $5.(an extra set of component cables would be useful for other stuff, if you do have a good VGA port on your TV.) -
Thanks for the reply CAM
Does VGA produce better quality than this composite cable (HDTV)?
