Every laptop/desktop should come with their own Recovery Disk and OS disks, but I remember hearing somewhere that Dell Vostro doesn't include OS disk... Is this true?

I live in the states and received an OS cd with my 1500. I didn't get a media direct or drivers cd.

I guess i'm not the only one. I emailed Dell and they said it should be in my box and I couldn't find it so I sent them a followup message to send me a drivers cd. Hopefully i'll get them soon.

Dell is starting to disappoint people with their services... The new laptops themselves are good, but Dell is displeasing.

I agree... my 1500 didn't come with an OS either. I emailed them, two days later they sent it next day and it arrived the next day in an envelope. Maybe I got lucky...but I do agree with trackstar about them wanting to save money by leaving it out...

I emailed them about the missing OS and drivers CD's. They shipped a replacement cd/dvd rom drive (???!!!) and a drivers disk for it. I then made about 15 futile attempts to reach an online CSR, then called (about 30 minutes total on the call). They claimed that the order has been changed, but it has yet to change on my account screen. Un-freaking-believable.

My Vostro 1500 was missing the utilities/drivers cd. So I ordered the cd from a link provided on this forum. I was charged $11.76, so I called Dell and they told me I really wasn't charged and that it was internal.

I checked my account and they shipped me 2 boxes for what I have no idea. All I wanted was the missing cd. They sent me item number HR514.

The description says: Kit, Compact Diskette Utilities, Utility, ROMMEL Gvc-realtek.

If anyone knows what they shipped me please let me know.
