Does Vostro really have no bloatware?

My Vostro is now in boxing, so I'm planning out on how to deal with it once it gets here. When they mean by no bloatware, do they mean it's completely clean except for Vista, MediaDirect, and whatever you chose? Or is there still going to be Dell software on there like support programs or other programs?

Also, does the Vostro come with a pure Vista install disc? Or is it on a recovery partition along with the drivers and software?

Hardly, I assume you did OPT OUT OF ALL THE BLOATWARE.

Because if you didn't, then you probably have...1 piece of bloatware. The anti-virus.

If you're gonna get a Vostro, might as well make sure that everything is unchecked

no vista disk here, its on a partition. i opted out of all the extra stuff and it looks pretty clean. there is something called DELL quickset, but I haven't really looked to see what it is.

I unchecked everything except Network Assistant (it looked fun and I wanted to play with it), Dell Datasafe backup for free, and Adobe Reader.

And if they don't come with Vista discs, will they send you one if you request it by phone?

Network Assistant is probably one of the more useful tools I've used.

Yeah, you should be able to

So I can expect not having anything on my Vostro except Vista, drivers, Network Assistant, Reader, a link to Datasafe, and "quickset"?

And did your Vostro come with a Vista disc, waverider?

If you didn't uncheck the anti-virus...you get free antivirus

No, but I did ask a Dell Chat person to send me one :)

I unchecked antivirus for sure. And did you call during your build process or after you got your laptop?

And edit, I called you waverider, lol. My mistake on that one.

'tis fine. I was confused for a second. And I see that you're getting Business Edition. You don't mind that System Restore eats up about 15 gigs right? Since that System Restore actually works like it should (it reverts ALL files except 1 or 2 shortcuts) back to the original state. Suppose I made a System Restore point right before I installed Bioshock (Just go with me on this one), and I revert back the next day. Bioshock would not have been installed. There will be only 1 or 2 shortcuts that point to that Bioshock was even on the computer

Hmm, space is not much of an issue, as I have a desktop with a good 370GB as well to get me by. I don't know if I'll use system restore though, since I've used it like twice with XP in the last four years. And will a 40GB OS partition be enough for Vista? I was going to do 40gb/120gb.
