I'm looking for performance comparisons between a Studio 15 and a XPS16 with the same 2.66ghz processor and same amount of RAM. I know the XPS16 takes "faster" ram and now is available with a better video card, but I curious as to the performance difference.

    Thanks,
    Rich

I don't have a XPS16, but I know that the only significant difference between the Studio 15 and the Studio XPS 16 is the video card. The Radeon HD 4670 on the XPS 16 is considerably more powerful than the Radeon HD 4570 on the Studio 15. If you don't play many games, then this video card really won't make much of a difference. Regarding the RAM, even though the XPS 16 has DDR3 RAM, the performance increase with DDR3 RAM is minimal.

It depends on what you're comparing. If you're talking about games, the Studio XPS 16 will be faster thanks to the more powerful ATi 4670 1GB, over the Studio 15's 4570 256 or 512MB.

In anything that doesn't rely on the graphics, though, performance will be pretty much identical using the same processor and amount of RAM.
