Hello all and thanks in advance for any info.
I finally after a horrendous experience with Dell Tech Support and multiple service call failures have been offered a system replacement.
I had an XPS Gen 2 laptop that is no longer in production. What will I be offered at this point or how does this work?
Thanks in advance!

Depending on where you are located and whether you can recieve refurbished replacements, Dell will attempt to replace your system with the same system that you originally had. They generally try to match your configuration as well, but if a specific part isn't available, they will upgrade you to a newer/better part. Then you ship out your replacement unit.
If you live in a location where Dell cannot send out refurbished units, or a refurbished unit with similar specs is not available, they will build you a new system. Since you have an out-of-production system, they will replace your XPS Gen 2, with its current in-production replacement (i.e. XPS m1730??). Again, they will do their best to send you the same or better specs of your original system.
Once you recieve the replacement, you will have to send the defective unit back to Dell within 10 days or something with a prepaid label included with the replacement system. -
You will prolly get M1730.
Does anyone have any info on the System Replacement process?
