I ordered a vostro 1400 that should be here around the end of the month (wxga, 8400m, t5270, 2gb ram, 120gb hdd).

I'm planning on using a fresh install of 32-bit xp pro along with x86_64 Gentoo linux (my main OS). I was planning on completely clearing the hard drive (including removing the backup partition thing) before I install the two OS's.

Does doing so void the warranty? If so, would I be able to get another hard drive to use and swap the original in if I ever have warranty issues?

    Awesome. :)

I'll boot the thing up into the pre-installed xp to check for any defects, and if all goes well the hard drive will be completely wiped out soon after. Linux for the win.

    hi guys

i have some problem than epsilon here :D

i want totally clear lenovo 3000 n200 hdd (containing vista and a strange recovery hidden partition) to install debian.

So i red in your posts that i don't void my (hardware) warranty... however, i could not able to find anything about this, in lenovo site and so on, for these days.

Anyone can confirm that i don't still void warranty ? Perhaps, they could change rules, for new year 2008... in example...
And anyone can links me url where i can read exactly about this ?

    thanks in advance,

    Massimiliano :D

The warranty is usually hardwares and not software related.
