Dell does offer a "glossy" screen - it's called TruLife. However, it's not nearly as good as the Sony XBrite or Fujitsy CrystalView. HP also has a better screen - BrightView.

So...I'd check out what other members are saying about the TruLife screen before you buy it - look in the Dell forum. I have been hearing some pretty bad things about Dell screens lately, like light leakage, sparkle effect...but I'd say the majority of users are satisfied.

Plus - its the people who complain who post, not the people who don't need to complain I would think. There are probrably 100x more people who are happy and don't need to post.

And most of the screens are made from LG/Samsung aren't they?

the 9300 look like a good notebook but it too big for me, i dont want a 17in plus it kinda high in the price range. im not looking to do much on this notebook just like the look of the enhacnces screen. Right now im thinking about HP cuz of the prices and one year warranty.

    any other sugguestion.

price is a big issue cuz im on a budget.

Correct-a-mundo. I think they use the samsung screens now, the consumers seem to like those better.

for the 700m.. i don't think u could have the option of not having the glossy screen...i think it comes standard like that...and yes..teh 9300 does have a glossy screen which is called trulife...but it does cost a lot more for it...and it is also a higher resolution..much higher

You can get the truelife on other laptops though... the 6000 has truelife.

All of the 700m screens are suppose to be truelife *according to their website*. If you read the compareson on the 700m in the link below, it clearly states it is truelife.

I know they do have some type of ultra clear screen, but I'm not sure if it is the actual truelife that everyone has heard of.

I think the ultra screen is the high res one.

I'm pretty confused, last time I spoke to our contact at Dell she said that the 700m was the only notebook they have with a glossy screen and their term for that is "crystal clear display" and True Life had nothing to do with the glossy finish. I haven't actually seen a 9300 in person...the 9200 was the last 17" Dell I saw up close. So for those that own the 9300, is it the same screen as the 700m (in that you can use it as a mirror to brush your teeth in when the screen is turned off and you've got a window behind you!)

    I'm confused to...so I did some research:

    What is truelife:
The TrueLifeTM brand is Dell’s marketing name for its recently introduced anti-reflective LCD screen technology (anti-reflective technology).

Dell TrueLifeTM LCD screens for laptop computers are one of the most recently introduced advances in notebook LCD screen technology. This technology has one much praise with its high-gloss, sharp contrast finish. We are confident that once you have seen this technology with your own eyes, you will not believe the difference it makes. It is even more impressive for DVD and gaming uses.

    Yeah, that must be it.

The 700m only has a 1280 res, and the ultra can go up to 1900. It still calls the 700m with a truelife screen. Dell makes things so confusing. I wish they would just use glossy/non glossy terms :p

It would be nice if Dell put some things in simpler terms....

I saw a Dell 700m at the mall the other day, and it had the "glossy" screen.

Makes me wonder...in the pictures the XPS2, although it has "Trulife" doesn't look reflective...maybe it's not as reflective as the 700m, or uses a different screen type.

I disagree on the sony part, but yes the fujitsu is among the best and brightest lcd panel out there. Sony is not worth is high price, the fujitsu is althoug be warned, those crystal view panels are not battery friendly with 300 nits of brigthness.
