Does dell have student discounts for laptops? And if so, where on the website do I go to get it?

Yes, and the discount ranges from 3% to 12% depending on the warranty and price that you choose for the notebook.

Assuming university -> Maybe check through your school? I know mine offers about 25% discounts on Dells and about 35% on Thinkpads

Dell does offer discounts, but they usually aren't very good. You are almost always better off buying during some special promotion.

I have a hard time trying to knock 12% off a system at Dell Home and Home Office. That would be like $240 off $1999 or more, and I haven't seen a coupon like that in a LONG time. Higher spec'd notebooks are the ones the discount is good for.

Of course, when you are ready to purchase and know which specs you want...
    1) You get the Home & Home Office Price (with coupon)
    2) Get the Small Business Price (you can order from there you know)
    3) You get the Educational Price (with % off)

Take the best of the three...
