    Does inspiron 1525 require ram in pairs?

    I'm asking because the 1525 I have has 2gb of ram and is likely 2x1gb sticks. Is it ok to put in a 2gb ram stick with a 1gb for 3gb total?

    I'm just asking this because I know on my computer the ram sticks must be in pairs or it wouldn't even boot up. thx!

    That's odd, that should never happen. You are never required to have 2 identical sticks of RAM in a computer.

    I haven't heard that about older laptops, but it is true with older desktops definitely with Rambus RDRAM.
