Does the 1501 have the same screen as the 1420/1520?

As far as this whole "graininess" issue goes? If so, then I'm safe, because my friend's looks absolutely gorgeous, and I don't see why Dell would put a higher quality screen on the lower end model...

If they have the same screen, then I won't be bothered at all =)

Probably, it would be cheaper to mass order one screen for multiple models then separate ones, and Dell's all about mass purchasing and producing :p

in terms of the whole 262k color...yes it is the same

to be honest, I havent seen the screen but im guessing they are not nearly as bad as theyre made out to be. These computers are insane fast for the money. If my whites arent so white and my screen doesnt look great from 6 inches away, it still wont bother me.

Well then I really don't see the fuss, because I used his laptop all day a couple days ago and never noticed a thing wrong with it.

EDIT: I agree, I think this is blown out of proportion. It looked absolutely fine to me, whites included.

yea so are the 1520's...well actually there are a couple lcd's that can possibly come with the 1520 but as far as quality they all seem to be similar (minor differences). This is what i heard anyways

I recently purchased a Inspiron 1501 and the screen is beautiful. I have on order a Vostro 1500 and I hope it comes with the same screen. I ordered both laptops with the standard 1280x800 resolution and with the glossy finish.

My 1501 came with the TK-53 Mobile Turion X2 CPU, 1GB Ram, 80GB HDD, 128 integrated X1150 Mobile Radeon. I like everything about it, it's very quick for the basics, runs strategy games like Galactic Civilization 2 quite well and it runs very cool.

I found an a Google offer on the net for $449 thru Dell. Great laptop for the price. I'm not sure if Dell is offering the Inspiron 1501 anymore as I couldn't find it on their website. I believe the Vostro's took the place of the Inspiron.

In Canada they are offering both, however it seems we dont get nearly as good deals as in the US (Im guessing thats where you are from). Im curious about the Ram configuration and if 2gb for windows xp is overkill for what my sister is gunna be doing (multitasking with light apps.: msn, limewire, explorer).

AFAIK they still offer the 1501, because I just saw it on the Dell website...

If your sister is going to do lots of multi-tasking then 2GB should be good enough for Windows XP.
