    Does the M1330 have digital audio output?

    or how would I go about outputting digital audio

    along with the HDMI it has...it could be a real home theater computer ;)

    HDMI carries Audio and Video. But if you are asking if the laptop has a seperate optical audio cable or a Coax Audio - I beleive the answer is No. But nothing a high end USB sound card cant fix.

    hmm, true HDMI does carry audio but isn't it often 2 CH only?

    but yeah I guess a USB sound card would work. I hope it doesn't cause audio-video sync issues :eek:

    true hdmi is full dolby digital/dts all channels HOWEVER i believe this is only passthrough hdmi - meaning only video is caried and NOT audio

    HDMI will carry both full HD res and 7.1 uncompressed digital audio.... HOWEVER, you should check if your home theater receiver has an HDMI in/out port. That's the problem these days, not many receivers have the HDMI port so they can't really take full advantage of the technology. I for one, had to by an external sound card to carry the digital audio via sp/dif.

    ok thats true once again though - i have yet to come across a laptop that carries the audio with the HDMI because it is ONLY through the video card and no audio. - passthough HDMI

    HP is only passthrough and so is, to my knowledge, every other laptop INCLUDING the m1330

    m1330 can output (at least) stereo pcm via hdmi.

    i'm having problems passing through ac3 and dts though.

    m1330 outputs audio through the hdmi.
