I am thinking of buying a XPS M1210, but as the topic hints i am worried about this keyboard flex problem i have been reading about.

Does all XPS M1210 come with this? Or is this something the early ones had which is now fixed by Dell?

    Thanks alot.

So how big of a problem is this? Is it barely noticable or annoying as hell?

The problem is not serious at all. Basically people feel that their notebook HAS to be perfect so they will be incredibly picky. No design is flawless, espeicially at Dell's prices you cant expect a perfect product.

There is keyboard flex in the corner but its not bad. It would in no way make me think twice about getting the 1210.

I also have heard complaints about the left palmrest creaking. It does creak a little after pressing down really hard. Its just so incredibly funny that people are this obsessive over their notebooks.

Its definitely not a major problem. I can only notice it when I actually look at the keys getting pressed down.

I disagree. Keyboard feel is a subjective evaluation, so the problem may be serious to some people, even if it is not serious to you.

I've seen a thread or two where people have fixed the flexing themselves with a small amount of electrical tape placed between the optical bay housing and the keyboard. This seems like an inexpensive fix, and I don't think it would be burdensome for Dell to implement a similar solution on new machines. A small strip of sticky foam would likely solve all of the complaints.
