Does this look like a good deal for E1705?

    Hey,

I'm pretty sure I am going to buy this but I was wondering what you guys thought about the pricing for this notebook(I am getting it refurbished from dell outlet)

    Inspiron 9400/E1705 Notebook: Intel Core Duo Processor T2250 (1.73GHz/533MHz/2 X 1MB L2 Cache)
120 GB EIDE Hard Drive (5400 RPM)
17 inch UltraSharp Wide Screen UXGA Notebook Screen(It's 1920x1200 right?)
8X DVD +/- RW w/dbl layer write capability
    1 GB DDR2 SDRAM 677MHz (2 DIMMs)

I don't do any gaming, so just used the reg. sound/video cards..

Final Price was $859...Is that worth it? I am thinking it is, but am looking for some feedback. Thanks guys

Not a bad comp for $859 (is that with tax?). I assume you aren't in need of alot of power, so it's a good choice IMO.

not bad for $859, and yes WUXGA LCD is 1900x1200.

by the way, make sure to get a 9-cell battery if you can.

Yeah, that's one thing I really regret not getting for my notebook. I'm stuck with a lousy 6 cell. Crud.

Not a bad deal, especially for a WUXGA screen. I would personally prefer to have a more powerful processor and take the WXGA+ screen, but that may just be me. And yes, try to get the 9 cell battery. But I have to ask... if you're not going to be gaming, then why go for a 17"? Why not just go with an E1505? The E1705 isn't as bad as people make out, but it's not really ultra-portable.

    Hey,

I play poker for a living and need atleast a 1680 screen to be able to play effectively...I tried to see if having a higher resolution on a lower inch screen would cause problems in reading text etc(Like I had no idea if 1600 rez looks a lot bigger on 17" or15.4" or what?), so I just went with the bigger screen. Since I had one configured with less power than this set up for more money, when I saw this one on the refurbished list I wanted to jump on it..

Is there a better option for my situation(I asked in the other forum but after a couple days and 1 answer I gave up.)
