Im coming from an Ibook ok.
(btw i ordered on april 3rd and i got it today the 10th...awesome 7 days)
I'll post more on this later.
Anyway I kinda hear a little bit of noise and (sounds like a fan from the hard drive bay) just a little though, not even that much, but its constant. Is that normal.
And also the unit shows centrino sticker not the "core duo" sticker.
whats the diff. between centrino duo and core duo?
thanks

hard drives make a little bit of noise... it varies a bit, but its probably nothing to worry about. The e1505 has alot more venting than the typical ibook which may make it a bit easier to hear.
I think dell just ran out of core duo stickers... Ive seen two e1505s and they both had only the centrino sticker. Its possible that they use the core duo sticker only if you dont have a full centrino solution which would only happen if you went with the dell wireless card. -
what brand HD do you have
mine came with a Seagate
it's quiet! -
My Hitachi HD is quiet (80 gb, 7200 rpm) but I've heard it a couple of times, but definitely not constant.

Mine is also a Hitachi - 90% of the time it doesn't make a sound, when it does it's very low and just for a few seconds.

i mostly hear the fan, which is quiet enough. but yea, if i listen closely, i hear the harddrive tickin' a little bit. As long as it doesn't sound like my other computer HDD...like TAKa TAK TAK!
