Saw one of these poll threads over in the hp forums regarding the HDX16t; thought I might start one for the Studio 15's since many people (including me) are experiencing problems with them.

I suppose I don't have to even bother explaining that when I choose "yes", I'm referring to the ever-popular media panel eject button.
There are one or two other small annoyances I can mention, but nothing worth complaining about for the most part. The most glaring issue is the display bezel; mine is very loosely attached along the right side of the display, to the extent that simply opening and closing the lid can flex it enough to pop out of place again. If I really wanted to bother, I'm sure I could get Dell to replace it under warranty, but I've got more pressing matters at hand currently.
Another pet peeve is the light bleeding from the backlit keyboard. There are gaps between every key on this keyboard, and they are not covered or sealed, so when viewing the keyboard at an angle, which is 80% of the time I use this keyboard, I can see the LED lamps that illuminate the keyboard from underneath the keys through the gaps between them. In order to not see this backlight bleeding, I have to view the keyboard from a nearly 90 degree perpendicular angle. I'm currently thinking of ideas to mod the keyboard to cover up these key gaps...perhaps make a mold of some sort, and then cut out a single large piece of rubber that would fit perfectly between all the keys to prevent light bleeding from the gaps, but not interfering with the actual functionality of the keys...or perhaps a sort of skirt for each individual key to cover up the lights.
Like I say, the few issues I've noticed are mostly cosmetic, and probably easily fixable. Overall, I'm very happy with the laptop. -

Problems I've experienced:
- the fan controller on the motherboard failed, requiring a repair
- the media panel eject button sometimes lights up and attempts to eject several times, regardless of whether there is a disc (this is fairly rare)
- sound clarity is poor and quiet unless you remove the stock IDT sound drivers, in which case the audio quality becomes average/acceptable
- when gaming, one of the directional keys (WASD) locks up as if it is pressed down for no apparent reason (this is also rare, but very annoying when gaming).
Otherwise, a solid and cool-running machine; much better overall than my previous dv6424 or Satellite A70. However, in terms of construction, design, and reliability it is far inferior to my IBM. -

All of the above.

Ah well...hopefully doing something with Num Lock will fix it. -

Everything in the thread has already been said. I've had the CD drive, media panel, bezel, and everything else. Nothing's really bad, except the loose bezel which I super glued LOL. I also hate the keyboard picking up oils so easily. Ugh. The LEDs are a distraction too. I wish I had gone with the HP Dv3t instead. After my dv2000 or whatever, with AMD, I was kinda reserved about buying another HP. My old dv2000 however, had nothing wrong with it, except that it got SO FREAKING HOT.

83% with defects...wow.

Yep, thank goodness for the 1555! XD

I did that, I was at that level of support when I removed the keyboard out of frustration and found the tape. They apologized but were not going to offer a replacement.
Does your Studio 1535/1537 have any problems/defects?
