    Hi guys...

I've been listening quite a tad of music lately on my laptop and i feel the speakers sound very bad. The sound is very junky, it ABSOLUTELY lacks any bass whatsoever, and also i bought the creative audigy software, installed it and everything sounds EXACTLY the same... no changes WHATSOEVER. i dont know if im making something wrong but EAX effects, or anything, bass boosts, whatever, nothing works, absolutely nothing

How do you guys feel about this? Could i have maybe some defective speakers or are speakers on the 1420 just crappy by default? Thank

ALL notebook speakers sound like crap.

if you understood sound waves and how speakers reproduce them, you would understand that it is physically impossible to get full sound from what is essentially 2 low wattage tweeters in a plastic box full of circuit boards.

external speakers or headphones and stop whining.

Learn some basic physics and get back to us....

For the size of the 1420, I have absolutely no problem with the clarity or volume of its speakers....

If you want lots of bass, go to a disco or buy yourself a decent set of external speakers :)

The Audigy software thing, I'm afraid you wasted your money on. It's not an Audigy sound card and it is supposed to improve bass and other things using a software solution. Maybe you should tweak it around a bit?

Also I agree with the others. Any laptop speakers are crap unless you get a Harmon Kardon Toshiba laptop. Those are the best speakers I've seen on a laptop.

The Harmon Kardon's are good, the HP Altec Lansing's are pretty good too. Just be glad you don't have an Asus G1s. It sounds like I put the laptop in another room and tried to strangle it with a pillow.

    Gaming headset FTW.

Any laptop outside of 17+ inches is going to have horrible speakers. It's just the way it is (too small to put anything decent in it without jacking up manufacturing costs).

Also no room for subwoofer i.e. XPS M1710.....

Man laptop speakers are about the size of you're thumbnail - they'll naturally sound like crap. Poor acoustics don't help matters. Don't worry about it, it's normal. I got a $6000 Voodoo, and it sounds worse then..dollar store headphones.

They've pretty much summed it up. The past two laptops I've had were Toshibas w/ Harman Kardon's and I was pretty impressed with the sound quality from them

I don't have the Audigy thing, or even a 1420, but I think they're assuming you're going to connect it to external speakers or decent earphones. Internal speakers are ok for like system beeps and stuff, but usually that's about it.
