Hello everyone, I'm new in this forum and I would like to know if it's normal that my laptop has a piece of thin plastic blocking the fan. I bought my laptop a year ago but I just noticed this. My laptop is a Dell Inspiron n5110 and it overheats a lot when I play games. The piece of plastic is in the right side, should I remove it?

It's pretty normal for many laptops; my Dell Precision M6600's fan grill also isn't aligned completely with the fans.

If you can remove it easily, then go ahead, unless you are really worried about warranty issues. But in my experience, Dell or Dell-certified technicians usually don't check for damage unless it's obvious or to components like the CPU or motherboard.

You could also buy thermal paste and repaste your CPU/GPU, and/or clean your fans/vents using pressurized air.

:) Thanks, I think I'll try it, I hope it will low my temperatures. And also want to change the thermal paste, although the laptop seems difficult to disassembly, I hope to not damage something :D
