Based simply on moving around rooms in your house, I agree that the 15.4" would be best, but what will you be doing with the machine? Your intended use might make a huge difference in the types of responses you receive.

i also says 15" because bigger the screen; the more comfortable it becomes to use, because with small screen size; you have to bend your neck and back more, to see the monitor, that creates back pain. but if you've got cramped space, then the you might notice the extra inches.

yeah, like bmwrob says. what are your intended use?

I've been around 14.1" monitors for almost 20 years now and its really hard for me to adjust to something differend. I think that my mind doesn't fully comprehend what is on 14.0" screen and smaller or 14.2'' screen and bigger. I'm dead serious and not just kidding around

yeah, i know the feeling, it seems you just dont know what to do with the extra space, as you usually concentrate on that little spot, and anything outside the spot tend to get ignored.

you get used to it quickly though.

well in case u arent looking for much style, i'd suggest the Vostro.

The vostro is in essence a inspiron in a different garb :p albeit cheaper

and about the screen size, i guess it all boils down to ur comfort levels. if u want a high degree of portability, then the 14 incher is the way to go. In case, u dont mind the xtra weight then u cld look at a 15 incher

A 17 Inch Notebook is what you should be looking for. Light enough to move between rooms but big (screen) enough to be productive and enjoy multimedia.

PS: It has been proved beyond doubt that bigger screen increases productivity and enjoyment of multimedia content. (Look at the Black Friday rush for Big Screen TVs)
