I have a brandnew Latitude D520 (Core Solo T1400) and installed Win 2K SP3 on it, since all computers of our company run this system. It now seems to be a problem to find the correct drivers; the ones first provided by customer service corrupted the registry, some of the next ones they suggested worked, but two of them won't install.
The install order was this:
1. Dell notebook system (R120775, install OK)
2. Chipset driver (R114079, install OK)
3. Audio driver (R122161, install aborted "cannot be installed on your system")
4. Ethernet driver (R113310, install OK)
5. Modem driver (R114202, install aborted, "cannot find xxxx device" )
6. Video driver (R114946, install OK)
7. Removed the remains of the failed modem install, including registry settings
8. New attempt to install the modem, failed again ("cannot find device" also a repeated reinstall of the modem driver was triggered, obviously the two don't work well together)
I tried with older versions of the drivers, but they didn't work either. Any suggestions how I can get 2K running on this machine ?

This is the link to the w2k drivers for the d520..I'm not exactly sure what your problem is. Are you missing modem & audio drivers?

My problem is that the drivers provided on Dell's support site do not install (see 1st post)
