I have a Dell Inspiron i15RV-1333BLK notebook PC and I was wondering that is it best to use the latest drivers from Dell.com to update things like the video card and other stuff? Thanks

It is possible that I put my question in the wrong topic but if so let me know since I see people have viewed my topic but no replies. Maybe it was suppose to go to the gaming or video card topic. I thought that it would go here since I have a Dell notebook.

Quick answer is yes, Video and chipset drivers are never a bad ideal to update.

Dell optimizes the various drivers for their computers, but that's does not mean it is your only option.

You can also download the latest chipset drivers from intel directly, same with the ATI or NVIDIA drivers.

Do this go to dell site and support download area and use your Service Tag number to locate your laptop and see what drivers they have for it and what chipset your using and then find the intel video driver from intel if it is intel and or AMD/Nvida go to there site and match up which GPU you have and O/S version and download the most recent stable release and install that.

Well so the video drivers from Dell aren't good you are saying? I thought that you need drivers that came from the company who made the computer to work the best?

It depends unfortunately. The ones on Dell's site are typically going to be an older version compared to what's available directly from Intel/Nvidia/AMD. The flip side is that they're usually tested to work properly on your system. I'm not sure if it's still the case, but I read about an issue where the new Inspiron 15 7000 was not waking from sleep and it was found to be related to using the newer Intel graphics drivers.

Well it could be that Dell was still working on the drivers and when they fix the problem they will put the updated driver to there website. also maybe that was the only driver that was there at that time when it first came out. But that's what I' am assuming since I don't think Dell would make bad drivers for there stuff since they won't sell well then. They probley update drivers and then make newer ones if they fixed a problem.

Nah, what I was saying is that the drivers from intel had a bug on the laptop.

Well so does that mean is it better to use drivers from Dell? Or for like video cards it's best to use Intel? I do have Intel HD 4000.

This is the driver I' am using now for my Intel HD 4000 card. It's for my model of notebook I have.

Ok for the first time I went to Intel.com and looked for auto detect drivers and I got this. I guess Dell has made there drivers to work best for the model I have. Maybe other drivers for the same video card won't work right or not stable.

Product Detected Intel® HD Graphics 4000
    Current Driver Installed 9.17.10.2867
A customized computer manufacturer driver is installed on your computer. The Intel Driver Update Utility is not able to update the driver. Installing a generic Intel driver instead of the customized computer manufacturer driver may cause technical issues. Contact your computer manufacturer for the latest driver for your computer.

I'm trying to say that it's not that simple. The latest drivers from Intel will give you better performance, but that may be at the expense of stability. The key word there being may.
