*so far*
On Christmas day my HD died. I bought a new one and got it today. So far I've spent all night reinstalling crap, I encountered the issue with the SATA drivers not being present which caused the install to hang on "completing install" but I'm past that now. I went to install the media direct junk, but I never use it and its too much of a hassle to bother formatting again to add it so I'm skipping it.
Now I'm back to a normal boot and can start installing drivers. The dell resource CD that came with my laptop doesn't seem to have all the drivers. I installed everything that had a check mark next to it, but it wasn't everything, notably my graphics card. I went to dells support website and put in my service tag but again didn't get many drivers, though they did have my graphics drivers. I've read around on this forum and have seen many people who have had to reinstall vista to their machine. Can you guys give me a list of drivers I should be looking for and installing? By this I mean, for example, "Get graphics drivers, sound drivers, chipset drivers..." junk like that. Everything under device manager so far seems to be "generic blah blah driver" type stuff. Any help would be appreciated.
