Problem installing some of the drivers after re-formatting my hd. After installing XP Pro, I went ahead and installed Sigmatel Stac Audio driver and i get an error saying that the software I using is incorrectly with the hardware I have. I had the Sigmatel driver when i got the laptop. I also get an error saying that I am missing a file when I install the intel chipset driver. When I install Dell notebook system software I get this message saying the "window Im using does not have the latest service pack" Does all this mean I have to install Service pack 2 first, before installing these drivers. Any suggestions Thanks!

Yes i think so. You need the SP2 if the requirement says so. And remember, when installing the Sigmatel, check if it's the right driver and while you install it, don't run any 2nd installation along with it or it won't install properly.

Read SouthernGirl's installation guide. It's a sticky post at the top of this board.

Did you use the XP disc that you received from Dell or a XP disc that you had before.
The XP discs from dell are SP2, so if you used a disc with SP1, then yes you will need to update XP before installing those drivers.
