My Grandpa had a Dell Inspiron N5110 laptop. He had problems with it, had a tech work on it and the tech messed it up worse than it started out with. He gave up on it and gave it to my brother. I'm trying to fix it up for him.
He didn't send any software with it so I downloaded Windows 7 from digital river and burned it to a DVD. I used KillDisk to totally erase the hard drive and then I installed Windows 7 (64 bit Home Premium which is what it came with).
Now I'm trying to install drivers for it. I am installing them in the order that is described here.
At first I was just kinda zipping through it hitting next, OK, etc and not really even paying attention to what all was going on. Then I noticed that some drivers were not doing anything after they were unzipping. I don't even know what drivers were installed and which ones were not installed at this point. I'm thinking about re-formatting and re-installing and paying more attention, but why are some of the drivers not installing after unzipping? Thanks.

Alright, so I re-formatted and re-installed Windows and then started installing drivers again to make sure I noted which ones did not do anything after unzipping.
The Dell System Software installed fine. Next I tried the Chipset Driver (R292253) and it unzipped but it did not install after it unzipped. This is the Intel HM67 Express Chipset Family Driver. The laptop has a "Intel Inside CORE i3" sticker on it so I figured this driver was the correct choice but perhaps it is not? -
Well, I'm just going to the location where the drivers are unzipping and manually running the setup. I don't remember having to do that on other Dell installs in the past, but I guess it's working that way.
Drivers unzip but don't install?
