I have an E1505 with 1GB RAM and about 81 GB of partitioned HDD space. Would it be reasonable to try to dual boot XP and Vista on my machine? If so, how much HDD space should I give to each? I was thinking 20-25 GB for XP and the rest to Vista.
Also, can my computer run 64 bit Vista? And if it can, would there be any performance benefits, and would it be suggested?

If you have a Core 2 Duo then you can run a 64-bit OS. As to whether it's worth it to install 64-bit? Probably not, there's too many drivers and program that simply won't work in 64-bit mode. The industry just isn't there yet. -
I suppose if one wants to play with vista as more of a toy than a tool then there would be a reason to get it. That and the eye candy that comes with it. The only other reason I could think of getting Vista is if one wanted to build a superpowerful desktop that uses 4+GBs of RAM.
I suppose there are good reasons to get Vista but I for one have neither the cash not the desire to get Vista until the release of a historically destined service pack or two. By then, other software will have probably caught up and there will be more reasons to enjoy vista. -
Well, from an academic MSDN program at my school, I have access to Vista Business for free. So I've been playing with it for about 3 weeks and am really impressed. I just wanted to know if dual booting would be a good idea, or if I should look into getting 64-bit Vista for myself - though now I know that I can't as I have a CD2 not a C2D.

yeah, it's a bummer when you find out you are not 64bit capable.
