I am thinking about purchasing a new E1705 due core pro laptop and wanted to know if it is a big deal if I got the 1.66 or the 1.87 processors. All I do is surf, email, research, etc. No gaming or presentations, etc. Please let me know what you think because the 1.87 is $100.00 more and I'm ready to buy. Thanks, Bill

It's not worth the extra $100 for you then -- what's the total price you're looking at? I wouldn't get a dedicated graphics card if I were you, you don't need that and it costs $299 extra for the nVidia card that's an option.

Thanks for the quick reply. Info as follows: This price is with the extra $100.00 for the 1.83 ghz processors. If I get the 1/66 it should reduce price by $100.00.

I don't know why all the question marks popped up, but they are supposed to be periods I think. I was simply copying and pasting and that's what happened. There is not much with regard to reviews about the E1705 yet, but I'm assuming it is a decent laptop for my needs.

It doesnt sound like your doing anything that is CPU instensive, are you sure you even need a dual core laptop? You could save more money by getting a more base model.

Actually I have to agree with dstar, you may just need a Core Solo for your needs, but for $1,366 that's not a bad price and $1,266 is even better. I'd go ahead and save yourself $100, but stick with the Duo since it's a good price and the Duo certainly can help out with overall performance.

Thanks again for the input guys. I was simply going 'stronger' with the duo core processors because of how things change so fast. I've read that some programs in the future will only be able to be run with duo core processors. ??? You know, ...just trying to stay on the 'cutting edge' so to speak. But, now that you've mentioned it, I may back off and re-think about a lower profile unit.
