    Hey everyone,

Well, tomorrow I'll be reinstalling windows and media direct after full format of the HD. However, my final purpose is not only to reinstall Windows and Media Direct, but to have a dual boot laptop for Linux and Windows, since I game but do a lot of bioinformatics, for which Linux is most appropiate. So, I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this and would recommend the partitions to be generated during install. My HD is 7200 RPM 100 Gb, and I'd like to have ~75 Gb for windows and all that goes with it, and ~20 gb for Ubuntu, since I won't be needing nearly as much space.

I chatted at Dell to get the Media Direct 3.0 CD sent to me, and in the end managed to get a technician to come to my house tomorrow. He would only install Media Direct and XP, but I was wondering in future Ubuntu install could be done by resizing the windows partition without killing media direct again.

    Cheers

Have you thought about switching entirely to Ubuntu? Ive been running it on my e1705 for 2 months now and have no interest in switching back to winblows. Between Wine, Crossover office, and Cedega, every game I have attempted runs just fine. I play world of warcraft, and the game runs better with Crossover than it did under windows XP. If your savy enough with Linux, maybe try giving that a shot.

If your going to dual boot.. I would partition the drive before installing either OS. repartitioning the drive after the installing one operating system always has its issues.
