I've got two wifi cards installed in my 1737, but I only have one set of 'WLAN' antennas. Can I use the WWAN antennas on my second card without harm?

I don't think there should be a problem with this. But why would you want to use two wifi cards?

To connect to multiple routers at the same time.

After some expirimentation, my 1737 apparently does not like other wireless cards.

    I removed the 5100
-pulled the working broadcom b/g card from my roommates mini-9
-installed the card into the 1737 including antenna hookup
-booted and installed the newest dell-supplied driver
    -restarted
-got the message that no wireless networks can be found

    Bump!

Does anyone know why only the stock wireless card works?

It would be very strange for Dell to prevent me from installing a Dell wireless card into my Dell notebook....

The original card was an Intel 5100 a/g/n half-card. Connects to the router just fine.
The test card was a working Dell (1495?) from my friend's Vostro A90.

    My 1737 has:
    (1) Half height mini PCIe slot
    (2) Normal height mini PCIe slots

When I test my Dell bluetooth 370 card it works in either full-height mini PCIe slot.

When I remove the half-height Intell 5100, and install the Dell 1495 into a full height mini PCIe (with WLAN antennas connected) it recognizes the card but no networks are shown.

When the Dell 1495 is in my friend's Vostro, he can connect to my router just fine.
