Thanks to everyone who helped out with the RED screen issue yesterday. It indeed was a reseating problem in the system board. Everything ran smoothly last night for hours. :) :) Only freak-out is when I was checking out to see what screen savers come with Vista - right after I got out of the bubbles-on-screen screen saver I got the BSOD and the system shut down to “prevent any further damage”

    Ouch.

My main issue and why I am writing this post is actually concerning using the M1210 with an external monitor.

I have the LG 22” Widescreen L226WT – great compatibility with the M1210 since it is in itself a tiny widescreen. So far it works great while selecting the option from the nVIDIA program of “One Monitor, LG - only” – the M1210 turns its little monitor off and the LG turns itself ON and the resolution adjusts itself to 1680x1050. I loaded one of Vista’s widescreen wallpapers and it is a site to be had!!

However, I am still unsuccessful at my attempts to dual-monitor, no--clone. I really like the idea of having my external monitor running a separate application from my laptop monitor. The problem is awkward and strange and results are different every time I attempt it. I either get very low resolution on my LG and background only on laptop. I am able to see the mouse move from one screen to another. But I will get – say – just my wallpaper showing on my LG and good resolution on the laptop or visa versa. I also noticed that if I run the clone mode screens. My low resolution from the laptop gets cloned on the LG and that doesn’t look good.

Any ideas? Anyway resources on line that taps into these things? I did an intensive Google search and no one seems to be having as little luck as I am.

I think it's Fn+F3/F4 to switch the output in the M1210. It might be another one, but try setting the nVidia Control Panel to dual monitor and cycle the PC through the various monitor modes until they match up. I don't have that model, but I think that would do it...I've got to do the same thing with ATI's CCC.
