I ordered a new dell laptop over a month ago, and have no hopes that they will be shipping it any time soon despite the fact that the automated status shows that the unit has been in the boxing stage for two weeks.

I get different answers from each person I speak to at Dell. First they told me the battery was the delay, when I offered to buy a different battery so that they could ship the unit, they told me that I would have to cancel the order, and start over (after three weeks of waiting). :(

Amazingly the next time I called they were sure it would ship in the next two to three days, unfortunately for me the only thing that shipped was a delay notice. This time when I called they claimed that it was the hard drive that was holding up the order, again I offered to buy an alternative hard drive so that could ship the unit, and again they offered graciously to cancel my order and let me start over.

My next EST is 9/22, and I am sure that given their present rate of progress that the automated system will still report that it is in the boxing stage and the only thing that will arrive on Monday is another Delay notice.

Who makes a laptop as reliable and durable as Dell's? I am ready to place an order on Monday when Dell yanks me around again.
