Well it looks like were all going to wait a while longer.
All I can say in consolation is that near the 30 day return period, we can all check what the price would be for us if we ordered then. If its a bit lower, we can all probably have them refund us the difference. Cause by the time we get these shipped, they are going to have a laptop to replace this one bringing down the price signifigantly. []
I really dont believe orderes should be quoted for delivery until parts are verified. But who knows the real reason.

My ship date was today March 19th. Now it is the 24th or 25th according to the Dell representative I just spoke to.
I ordered around the 2nd or so.

I was told the new date was the 25th as well on the phone yesterday. I got an automated message.
I called Dell and the people on the phone were about useless. I have a hard time with accents too, so that didn't help any. But when I asked why my 9100 was being delayed she couldn't tell me why what-so-ever. She transferred me to someone else and I got the same response.
So far their Customer Service is piss poor from my end. -
Ok now I just got a phone message saying April 16TH!!!!!!!
What?!?!?!!
A month and a half to wait from order day????
Im going to call them when I get a moment.
Ok, its now later (Im just editing the post)
I called and spoke with a woman in Panama City. ha ha
She said the reason on my order stated for the delay is due to waiting for more stock of the screens.
Changing the screen would only delay more.
The forum on the Dell site talks all about the batteries being a problem, but I was told its the screens.

They have halted shipments of the 9100 and XPS models due to quality issues.

Thats odd. The Dell sales rep just called to say that i'll be getting my Inspiron9100 either tomorrow or day after (25th). Thats goood news! She mentioned that its in final testing. I guess the production plant is in Malaysia, so it'll only take a day to get here. Hope she's not kidding, cos the website shows that my lappy is still in Production.

Got my D800 in exactly one week.

Well after having an original ship date of the 18th of March, I got a call saying it would be shipped on the 25th of March. NOW I get this message
------------------------
We have reviewed your order. Although we had anticipated being able to ship your order sooner, we are experiencing an unexpected delay and will not be able to ship this order and any associated orders until on or before 4/20/2004.
If you do not wish to wait, you may cancel your order and receive a prompt refund.
Please be aware that unless you tell us that you want us to continue with the order despite the delay, your order will be automatically canceled on 03/25/04.
To give your consent to continue your order, please contact Dell at 877-868-3355 or
email us at [email protected].
Please include your customer number or order number with any correspondence.
We apologize for any inconvenience this delay may cause you.

Now this is becoming BS that they will not give a reason, and when you call Dell, the people there have their heads in their asses. All I want is my Laptop I ordered for my wife. And if she didn't get a 10% discount for ordering a Dell through her work, I'd go somewhere else in a heartbeat. -
What I find odd here is that the letter says if you don't want to continue the order you can cancel and receive a prompt refund. Then in the next line it says that if you don't tell them you want to continue the order, they are going to automatically cancel it.
I find it very strange that a company would be forfeiting some of its orders simply because some people fail to check their email or procrastinate renewing their order. Seems to me that they don't expect to ship by the April date and don't want to deal with people, so are giving them an auto-out.Last edited by a moderator: Jan 29, 2015 -
My understanding is that only certain models of dell are having problems shipping. So, you may be able to find another dell that fits your needs.
If you still want 10% off and want to go somewhere else HP/Compaq currently has this possibly up until 4/3/04 but they reserve the right to end it sooner.
Coupon Code: PC2039 if you decide to go this route.
Also be sure to check out www.xpbargains.com and www.techbargains.com and you might be able to find another vendor with this 10% off or some other such great deal. -
Damm DELL bastards!
Just called to say its been delayed for a furhter 2 more weeks. They called yesterday to say will get tomorrow .. now story change again! WTF!
-
Hey, dude you're getting a dell! You need to have a little patience. It is well worth the wait. I got my latitude D800 in one week, and it is soooo kick ass. Dell makes the best laptop, but just because they have an issue with the 5150, people start crying and say the whole product line sucks. With or without your 10% discount, you should be happy you're getting a dell.
If you can't wait any longer, change your order to a latitude. It is their business model, and you automatically get treated better by support and sales staff.
At the end of the day, all this obsolete crap comes from china, so it's not a terrible thing for you to shop eleswhere, but I stil recommend the dell. -
Reason they gave for the delay was the shortage of the graphic card. Seems they do have the 64mb version though, its available.
-
Mine has finally been upgraded to the "testing phase" on the website order status.
Im a little frustrated but I still believe that Im getting what I want so I will be patient.
Besides, what are you all going to do once I DO get my 9100 and I dont have time to ramble on on this forum????

Cos i wanna use the 9100 to play games. Quite a few gd games coming out these few months . .Far Cry to start with. And i believe the 128Mb 9700 mobility should suffice.
Lucky for you bro ..that you got yr lappy on the testing stage. -
So I have read people have been told the battery, I was told the monitors and then I was told the processors. Now the video cards??
I have to say its amazing that we are all delayed but no one gets a consistent answer.
And my computer being in testing doesnt mean anything to me.
Well see when it comes.
I ordered 3-3. I will certainly let you all know if and when I get it.
Dude, wheres my Dell
