Dude, you're not getting a Dell

Adding to the constant complaining on this board about back-orderded Inspirons, I felt obliged to vent my dissatisfaction with Dell. Ordered a 1520 on July 4th and it now been delayed 3 times. This last time the ship date jumped from August 7 to August 28. Every time I talked to Dell they have different reasons for the delay. First it was the screen, then the processor, and now its the green colored lid. I talk to them and they say it will ship as planned and an hour later I get an email saying its been delayed again. Just complete and total buffoonery.

Haven't decided to cancel my order yet although I'm leaning towards it as this is for my mother-in-law. I could have been in and out of Best Buy in 30 minutes and had a machine.

Dell blows.

Thats crazy, but i would cancel it and get an HP instead.

 

i think you should ask for some type on compensation, another member got $250 off his or her next order. i dont see any reason why they havent offered that to you, goodluck!

 

I was able to get $50 off the order. Actually they tried to give me a $50 coupon which I refused. That was after the second delay. This last time they tried to give me a $75 coupon and a laptop bag which I refused. As far as I'm concerned I don't think I'll be buying anything from Dell ever again so I really had no desire for a coupon. The thing that really pisses me off is this is through our company's EPP program. I'd like to think I'd get a little priority because of that but clearly not.

The funny thing is that I have just finished an MBA class and I wrote a paper about Dell's strategy in regards to marketing. This is a particullary relevant quote from it:

That's the thing. I got the following for $937.72. This also doesn't take in to account the additional $50 they have agreed to take off. Based on their receipt, the EPP deal saved me $558.76. Looking at other laptop sites, I'm just not sure I can really get this kind of machine for the money I'm currently paying.
